Mendocino Mermaids is a nonprofit built on salty love and community magic. We organize beach cleanups, eco-events, and creative fundraisers to help protect our wild, beautiful coastline.
When you shop with us, you help fund this important work and keep the mermaids alive in all of us.
Our Mission
As per our Articles of Incorporation, the specific purpose of this corporation is to clean public beaches as an act of community service. Our club holds regular swim practices to promote exercise, and regular fundraisers to pay for trash disposal, club t-shirts, mermaid-themed events, and more.
We sponsor monthly beach cleanups up and down the Mendocino Coast, followed by a photoshoot in our tails to capture the attention of beach goers. We encourage adults and children alike to get active in our community, on our beaches, and in the water.
Board of Directors
Founded in 2019, Mendocino Mermaids is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors in accordance with Article IV of the organization's Bylaws. The Board is composed of three unrelated members who represent diverse professional backgrounds and lived experience within the community. All board members serve without compensation. Directors have equal voting power and are responsible for fiduciary oversight, strategic direction, and organizational governance.
The Board reflects a cross-section of creative, financial, insurance, and community-based expertise that supports the organization's mission of environmental stewardship, public health, and inclusive community engagement.
